Its been almost 3 weeks now since we arrived that cold nice to Pattys house. Roland was nices enough to pick us up from the train station in Castelnaudary and to have the heaters on in the house before we arrived so it would be toasty. We were hungry and thankfully Patty had pasta and soup that we heated up right away. I love the little house, waking up in the morning, opening the shutters to the sun and the mountains then slipping downstairs for some homemade coffee. My kind of morning. The weather has been great for us here, mostly its sunny with just enough wind to make a slight chill on your skin but then enough heat from the sun to warm you right back up again. There have only been a handful of rainy days but the winter chill has begun to really set it. We have been using the wood stove for heat, and every once in a while we have to go on an adventure to collect sticks for the fireplace. There is the cutest little trail leaving in to a valley below the town with a creek and well cleared paths. Its a little bit creepy down there however with so much vegatation and all the stories laying around about the Cathars in thie region so I stay close to the city. Most mornings we have grand breakfast with patatozs, eggs, avacatos, tomatoes, cheese, garlic, onion, and carrots all fried up into a scrammbler or in my case an anti scrammblers since eggs make me sick. Then I read or write in my journal while enjoying some coffee and contemplate what we want to do for the rest of the day. Some days we go on adventures in the woods as I mentioned before and others are spent visiting the near by cities. Our favorite grocery store is the Géant in Castelnaudary. Its similar to Wal-mart if not identicle. We have been eating tons of avocatoes and potatoes they are cheap over here. Also apples and chocolate. Bread and Bre is a must along with cereal. I dont know if I will ever be able to replace the cereals I have found here, they have real chocolate chunks!
I would also like to mention that I have read almost every book in this entire house, I have become an expert reader and have learned to really enjoy the hobby as a past time.
Well there was a pigeon in the living room, Quinn and I never go in there because its unecessary to heat that part of the house. We started to hear these weird noises all about the house and for about three days we thought there was a mouse or something in the wood room across the hall from the living room. Then we ventured to the other house thinking a cat or a bird got in there but all we found was a dead bat. Then on the fourth day as I was up getting my morning coffee when i definitely heard the sound of a bird flapping about. I got Quinn and sure enough there was a nasty pigeon that had fallen through the chimmney and was pooping all over the place!! it was so gross to clean up.
Well we are leaving Labecede after a month of hanging out and catching both cabin fever and a slight cold. We leave for Valencia Spain at 5am!
