The Canadians

I think I have said this multiple times before but I concider myself one of the luckiest people in the world. The main reason being that I seem to be able to make great friends no matter where I am in life or on this earth. While in Jamaica there was a group of fabulous people I was fortunate to run into. For the first couple of days that I was in Jamaica I was a bit lost in that I was unable to connect with anyone from the iCare project and since it didn't start till Sunday I figured I was just going to have to relax and wait till I heard from them. While taking the bus from the airport to the Resort I met the Canadians. A group of 6 from Ontario (area) Canada just coming to stay in Jamaica for a week. They completely took me in, and sort of adopted me for the time when I was on my own. They invited me to lay on the beach with them, play some beach volleyball, snorkel and even replace a member of the group who couldn't make it to dinner! I really appreciate people like this, the ones who are willing to branch out and meet new people and aren't afraid to be social. On our first night there we had dinner at in the Cricket room where I think it was Rob who was the first to pass out during a meal. We spent some time watching the entertainment then went on our ways. I personally was exhausted and needed some sleep. the next day I met up with them again unexpectedly at the beach and was invited to play some volley ball (our team rocked) and then go on a snorkeling tour where we saw the most amazing array of sea life from dazzling corals to rainbows of tropical fish. Next we spent the day lounging in the pool bar sipping on the special drink of the day which I never found out what it was made of. Later on they had a reservation for Tokyo Joes restaurant and I was sub in for an individual who had a little too much of the Jamaican special drink at the pool side and was therefore sitting this one out. It was an interesting dinner, dont ask Mike to remember it since it was his turn this time to take a snooze in the middle of the entree.  The next day was the start o the work week for me and therefore I was not able to spend too much time with my Canadian friends. I got to see them a couple times at night, usually  had a drink or two with them or watched some of the entertainment with them before I was off to bed or other shinanigans. One night was "hot tubbing" night and I dont think I will ever forget Mike attempting a fake cannon ball that turned into an almost back breaking fall on the cement, and then Robs histerical laughing at Mikes mishap. You both made me laugh and I continue to laugh at some of the random moments, the inside jokes, the humor, and  oh man... how many times did I set myself up? I think its like Rob-5 Ashley-0 will i learn? Maybe....

I think that although tropical storm Nicole caused some problems for them weather wise, they were still able to enjoy themselves and hopefully I see them again Jamaica 2011 and hopefully its with me at the clinics! I love you guys and thanks for making me feel like a part of the team!
