I Met a Dog Named Shirly

Ok So we are in Lagos, Portugal walking down the beach the weather was holding up for us, a little windy but no rain yet. We see these awesome clifts that jet into the water and make arches and tunnels so of course we go wondering. Ducking under an arch and through a tunnel we come across this cute little sandy beach. There are people enjoying the sun and water as well as a team of dogs running about.

The dogs were friendy, they come up and sniffed us, they even followed us untill we go to the edge of the beach. They were running, splashing, and rolling all over one another. The female was brown and some kind og boxer mix while the mail was black shaggy and maybe a shepard mix. There was one other white dog maybe a lab mix that was laying in the sun. The entire time we assumed this one couple were the owners of the dogs but when we realized we were the only humans left on the beach with 3 dogs we decieded they must be strays. (one had a collar the other 2 didnt). Well we kept walking ignoring their playfulness, we stopped to sit in the sun, which was very warm when the wind took a break. We layed and listened to the wind and the ocean for a while. I got bored and wanted to continue exploring so I sat up and to my surprise there was the white dog. (we named her Shirly) she looked very old and maybe pregnant. She was like 20 yards away and staring at us. Then she stood wagged her tail and come and sat by us. We let her.
As we were leaving Shirly acted like she was going to just stay there but soon started to follow us. I didnt want her to come to the busy street so I tried to make her play with the other dogs but hse just stared at me with these eyes that said "I want to come with you". It made me miss Addison. It was really sad. Eventually we quickly walked off but she followed, slowly and soon we looked back and she wasnt following anymore.
Our day continued and we followed a trail along the rocky beach cliffs. We walked through this lazy town, stopped at some plazas to enjoy the scenary then went back to our hostel to warm up.
Around 7pm we walked to the local grocery store and got dinner. To our surprise as we were checking out, Shirly comes trotting into the grocery store behind us. I was afraid someone would think she was our dog and us (not speaking Portuges) not being able to explain that she wasnt our dog even through she was acting like it. Shirly didnt try to follow us this time as we left the store, but she had the sweetest look on her face as she stared at us leaving. She was the nicest stray I have ever met.
